About Wayfarers Hockey Club

London Wayfarers Hockey Club was founded in August 1989 in Battersea, Southwest London.

London Wayfarers have since gone from strength to strength and are now one of the largest hockey clubs in the UK with over 1,500 members.

They currently have more than 400 senior members in 18 senior sides (eight men’s teams, nine women’s teams and a mixed team) and their “Back to Hockey programme”.

In January 2010, they introduced their Junior section, and now have more than 700 girls and boys playing hockey every week. They regularly field seventeen 11-a-side teams across five age groups, with many more playing at festivals. Once eligible, juniors can transition to senior teams and continue to represent London Wayfarers Hockey Club at a higher level. Many players have joined senior teams, and several have gone on to represent England and Wales at National Age Group level.

London Wayfarers caters to all levels of hockey, from National League and performance-based hockey to social hockey and those picking up a stick for the first time. The Club is conscious that most members play hockey for fun and therefore aims to provide an inclusive environment, with a great hockey experience for all members.

The Junior section is split into age groups and enter competitions appropriate to their age and experience. Their juniors are in action every Sunday across the South of London and also offer midweek junior performance training sessions. The very popular GK Academy runs several sessions per week catering for 50+ goalies with a professional coaching set up. Wayfarers runs hockey camps throughout the year to keep everyone active during school holidays.

Year-on-year our teams prove to be very competitive, gaining promotions across the board.

Flyerz Hockey
